The Bhagavad Gita is not technically a history book, but I am somewhat persuaded that myths can reflect things that actually happened, even if only in a strange or heavily transformed way. Parts of the Bhagavad Gita may preserve some distant historical reality, just as the stories of Troy were eventually connected to archaeological evidence for a real place.
