The River Kings is much more archaeologically oriented than Children of Ash and Elm, although the two books tell versions of the same story. The River Kings begins in Britain and follows archaeological fragments along a route that eventually reaches the caliphate, revealing how deeply involved the Vikings were in trade and movement across that entire world.
