Great Thinkers of the Eastern World explores a wide range of Indian, Chinese, and other Asian philosophical traditions. I read it in college as a companion to Bertrand Russell’s A History of Western Philosophy.
Most people receive relatively little exposure to the extent to which our supposedly modern ideas, beliefs, and philosophies were explored much earlier elsewhere. India even went through a New Atheist phase—something I think many of us have also gone through at some point in our lives.
